Album

Nathan Woods Mild High Club and King Gizzard come together to make a very psychadelic album about the bands home town in Melbourne, Australia. It's pretty cool. Favorite track: Sketches Of Brunswick East II. transce I can't believe I didn't like this album at first, now it's one of my favorites. The subtleties and depth of this album are hard to grasp at first. But the gems slowly reveal themselves with each additional listen. Many songs have street sounds gently mixed into the background in a way that adds texture and flavor to the songs. This album is a psychedel. Sketches of Brunswick East is the eleventh studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and the third by Mild High Club. The title is a reference to the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick East and Miles Davis' 1960 LP Sketches of Spain, which inspired the album's jazz-oriented sound. It was released on 18 August 2017 by Flightless Records in Australia, ATO Records in the United States, and Heavenly Recordings in the United Kingdom. It is the third of five albums. Sketches of Brunswick East is a collaboration with Mild High Club, which came about as the bands toured the world together. The two bands worked by essentially sampling themselves, piecing together bits of reworked recordings to form a complete song. In a press release, lead singer Stu Mackenzie likened it to sampling-culture, in which old ideas are reshaped and suddenly things make. Main page. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The eleventh studio album from the prolific Australian psychedelic rock band, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and the third album from Mild High Club released on the 180817. The album is a collaboration with Mild High Club and predominately jazz-based, it is the third album of the scheduled five that King Gizzard plan to release in 2017 and marks a departure from the harder, rock-based sound of the previous two releases of 2017. The title is a reference to Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain and the Melbourne suburb Brunswick where Flightless Records, King Gizzard's label, is located. Sketches of Brunswick East, the third full-length the band has released over the last six months alone, proves the opposite to be true. Presumably, its Brettins laidback style that mellowed King Gizzards frantic demeanor. The album opens with acoustic piano courtesy of Brettin as drummer Michael Cavanagh joins in with a feathery, double-tracked part and Mackenzie does his best Genesis-era Peter Gabriel impression on flute. Right away, its clear that both acts benefit from each others presence. King Gizzards enthusiasm has always been undeniable, but its also a refreshing change to see the band ease back on its goofiness, which can verge on aggressive at times. After releasing two albums already in 2017, the microtonal experiment Flying Microtonal Banana and the synth prog epic Murder of the Universe, they hooked up with Alex Brettin of the soft rock weirdos Mild High Club to concoct the smoothed-out psychedelic jazz album Sketches of Brunswick East. The best sonics on KWATLW releases in 2017 so far.Very pleasant pressing.

I love King Gizzard but they should never attempt another jazz album. These prices will lower further as the Gizz frenzy subsides. They really need to repress oddments. I set a "make an offer" option on my listing and I'm open to more reasonable prices or trades for other albums if anyone wants to hit me up.

"...they should never attempt another jazz album."Couldn't disagree more. Love this one. It may not be the best thing they've ever released, but it's got a great vibe & just enough Gizz Juice™ to lend it a twang. Excellent lazy afternoon spin.

Yeah heard it..Crumbling Castle. Nice track...lots of different influences from previous albums can be heard in it. I think the next LP should coming out any day now, with poss a xmas album, to finish off their promise? Band has said they'll drop whichever of the two albums is ready first...so might get Polygondwanaland first or that 2nd Jazzy number.....exciting isn't it! But I really hope Gizz, will be nicer this time, and give us fans a chance to buy a copy....1000 copies of their only limited Sketches ain't anywhere near enough to go around, not after they sold 6000 copies total of their 3 MOTU versions. Makes me wonder if Stu doesn't care for Sketches...maybe he just recorded it quickly just as a 'filler' to keep his promise up! Personally speaking, I quite like it myself...nice 'n' sedate 'n' dreamy! ;-)

The just released a new song the other day, so hopefully we will see a new album soon!

About time too! I haven't got 12 bar or Sky..so look forward to those when they come out. Any idea when their next LP comes out this year? If their promise is to hold up, there should be two more albums to be released this year?

Prices are beginning to come down...but still over priced, I think.
one life
Currently about double what it should be going for, and even that would be questionable

Is there any way to tell the white vinyl from the black vinyl Flightless versions without opening?
Nnulam
really old question here but the white album has an embossed outer sleeve. I just got mine today and it has a raised feel to the lettering.
Styphe
As far as I can tell..no Squirlin, as I have a copy of the Black version, the covers of both appear to be identical.
PC-rider
My copy of this album came with a shiny flightless sticker. Make sure to shake your box when it shows up, I almost threw mine away
Topmen
Yeah same here....but I got two of those with my copy! :-)

If anyone wants to sell, very interested. Message me your price.
