We don't own anything. Will remove on request Highly underrated classic album from two major songwriters in the US Contemporary Folk, Chamber Take Heart, Farina spent most of her time until her 2001 death working on the charity Bread and Roses. What We Said Then: Mimi Farina and Tom Jans do make beautiful music, and this is a lovely album. It's also a haunting one being reminded of Dick Farina's absence only reiterates his importance. I wish them well with this album. Take heart. George Kimball, RS 92 September 30th, 1971. View Complete List. Tom Jans. Pete Sears. Margarita Mimi Baez Fariña April 30, 1945 July 18, 2001 was a singer-songwriter and activist, the youngest of three daughters to a Scottish mother and Mexican-American physicist Albert Baez. In 1968, Mimi married Milan Melvin and continued to perform, sometimes recording and touring with either her sister Joan or the folksinger Tom Jans, with whom she recorded an album in 1971, entitled Take Heart. Mimi and Milan divorced in 1971. Among the songs she has written is In the Quiet Morning for Janis Joplin, which her sister recorded and released in 1972 on the album Come from the Shadows. Released in 1971, Take Heart was a collaboration between Jans and Fariña, and it finds the two working with some of the best studio musicians of the day, including Jim Keltner, Leland Sklar, and Sneaky Pete Kleinow, while Jans and Fariña trade off on superb vocals. Mimi Fariña & Tom Jans was the pairing of American singer-songwriters Mimi Fariña and Tom Jans. In 1970, Jans met Joan Baez while playing coffeehouses in San Francisco and she introduced him to her sister Mimi Fariña. Fariña, who had achieved cult status as part of a duo with her late husband Richard Fariña, had begun writing new songs and was looking for a partner to perform them with Jans seemed to be a similar collaborator and the two formed a duo.
