Imaginary Day is the ninth studio album by the Pat Metheny Group. It was released in 1997 by Warner Bros. The album overall was strongly inspired by world music from Iran and Indonesia, and won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Imaginary Day - Pat Metheny. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. More than ever, the Pat Metheny Group is into creating thick, exotic, electronic sonic landscapes, and Imaginary Day goes even further out on the cutting edges of technology and global influences than its predecessors. The floating Metheny group signature is often present but with radically reworked textures, and Brazil seems to be off his international itinerary, replaced by whiffs of repetitive Iranian folk music, Balinese gamelan music, and other global influences. Indeed, Metheny only sounds something like his familiar soft-focused self on A Story Within the Story, playing what. Musicians: Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, Steve Rodby, Paul Wertico, Mark Ledford, David Blamires, Mino Cinelu, David Samuels, Glen Velez, Don Alias. This is one of my favorite releases from the Pat Metheny Group. Metheny is a unique guitarist who has been able to take jazz over into the mainstream. His sound is synthesized, but it doesnt detract from his playing ability. He is still the type that can make your jaw drop with his phrasing and sound. This album is a great tour of Methenys abilities. Like many of Methenys albums, Imaginary Day blends well between songs, making the album very story. Pat Metheny Group. Perhaps the most recognizable guitarist on the scene, he's worked lately in free-improv contexts 1997's Sign of the Four, in gentle duets 1997's Short Stories, with Charlie Haden, and has continued to expand the sound and reach of his multiple-Grammy-winning Pat Metheny Group. Imaginary Day finds Metheny exploring world-music influences and orchestral colors and opening up new avenues for contemporary jazz
